The Classic 10K
Community Recognition Celebration

During the past year many volunteers and support personnel have stepped up and helped to assure the Classic 10K Race Weekend's success. In recognition and appreciation of this the Classic 10K committee has a small get together to personally give thanks to those who have extended so much for the community in bringing this significant event to the local area for all to enjoy and benefit from, and in addition to donate money to the local community for needs in our backyard.

It is fitting that at this year's Classic 10K Community Recognition Celebration a portion of the Wednesday evening event was dedicated to the memory, and in honor of the recent loss of a dear friend and integral member of the Classic 10K weekend event, namely William Sherry.

In brief, circa 1978 William, (Bill) turned his passion for running into a business and co-founded Super Race Systems, a nationally known race timing company based in the metropolitan New York area. Bill prized the friendships that developed all over the country with fellow timers, event organizers, volunteers, and participants. He took great pride in the fact that through race timing, he helped raise funds for many charities, and Super Race Systems was the timer of choice for the Classic 10K weekend.
