Josh’s Team in Classic 10K Road Race

We have decided that we will not be organizing Josh's Team at the Rowley 5K and Classic 10K in June 2019. We are so proud of what you have helped us accomplish over the past 10 years, and we will continue with our cause through other fundraising opportunities which we hope you will find worthy of your support; we will of course keep in touch with you about our plans.

We hope you will continue to support the Rowley 5K and Classic 10K, which has been such a gracious and generous partner of ours. We hope you will continue to wear your Josh's Team shirts with pride. We hope Josh is somewhere looking down at all of this and smiling about everything that has been accomplished in his memory.

If you would like to make a donation in honor of the anniversary of his death, or of course at any time please visit www.joshsteam.org.

Thank you so very much,
The Stamm Family

This summer marks the 10th anniversary of Josh's Team. When Josh passed away in December, 2007, we worked with The Community Foundation of Orange and Sullivan to set up The Joshua Stamm Memorial Scholarship Fund, and each summer since then so many of you have joined us as part of Josh's Team at the Classic 10K and Rowley 5K to help raise money in support of that fund, and in honor of Josh. Many things have changed over the past decade, but one thing has remained: our gratitude to you for making it possible for us to do so much good in the spirit of the short but fulfilling life Josh led.

Joshua Stamm developed Ataxia-Telangiectasia (AT), a lethal disease that attacks children, causing progressive loss of muscle control, immune system problems, and a strikingly high rate of cancer, especially leukemia and lymphoma. That did not stop Josh from racing with his family in the Orange Classic and Classic 10K for many years and touching the lives of our local and extended running community.

So here we are 10 years later. Though Josh himself can never be replaced, the hole left in the hearts of those who miss him feels just a little bit smaller each time we award a college scholarship to a Goshen High School graduate with a disability
(http://cfosny.org/our-funds/scholarships/joshua-stamm-memorial-scholarship-fund/); each time we give money to help allow disabled individuals to ski with Vermont Adaptive Sports (https://www.vermontadaptive.org/) or enjoy summer camp at Rising Treetops at Camp Oakhurst (https://risingtreetops.org/); each time we help fund research to treat and a cure Ataxia Telangiectasia (https://www.atcp.org/Research); and now each time we help fund a student's enrollment in the new Bridges program at SUNY Orange (http://www.sunyorange.edu/bridges/).
Thanks to you, we have helped so many over the past 10 years, and we have surely done Josh proud in the process. Let's make the 10th annual Josh's Team event the biggest and best one yet, so we can ensure that we will be able to continue this trend for many years to come.

You can join Josh’s Team to help support the Joshua Stamm Memorial Scholarship at Goshen High School, the AT Children’s Project and others. Special registration instructions will be available in early February.

Josh's Team members can enter the Classic 10K or Rowley 5K as runners, walkers or wheelchair participants (even though we don't have an official wheelchair division). For each team member, the Classic 10K donates $7 of the entry fee to the Joshua Stamm Memorial Scholarship Fund. We suggest that Josh’s Team members match the race’s donation by including an extra $7 with their registration fee.

Something Special

On December 15, 2010, the third anniversary of his brother's death, Matt Stamm released a CD titled "Joshua." You can download "Joshua" for just $5 anywhere digital music is sold, including here: http://itunes.apple.com/us/album/joshua-ep/id405101680?ign-mpt=uo%3D4. The album includes 4 original compositions and a cover of Fix You, by Coldplay. All record sale proceeds from “Joshua” will be donated to the A-T Children’s Project (the organization researching a cure for Josh’s disability) and The Joshua Stamm Memorial Scholarship Fund (a component of The Community Foundation of Orange and Sullivan). Please support this effort by buying this album, gifting it to others on iTunes, and sending a link to everyone you can.  Let's make something incredible happen - for Josh, and for the children these charities help.

"This record, “Joshua”, is dedicated to the memory of my brother, Joshua Stamm.  To his heroic spirit, his determination, his compassionate nature, and to his glowing personality.  To the way he lived his 27 short years to the fullest, and to how he somehow managed to leave a lasting impression on just about everyone he met.  Josh loved a variety of music, and I think he would be very happy to know that there is now a whole album of songs named after him." -Matt Stamm
